Jim has the privilege of working with two of his three children, Andrew and Aly, at Alliant Construction
in Pittsburgh where he serves as the managing director overseeing the MidAtlantic Construction practice
group. Within this role, he is instrumental in managing property/casualty and surety programs for some
of Alliant’s largest regional and national construction clients. Jim is part of Alliant’s National
Construction Practice assisting other colleagues with complex insurance and risk management services
including captives, surety analytics, contractor prequalification, and Subcontractor Default Insurance.
With over 40 years of experience servicing contractors throughout the country, Jim provides brokerage
and risk management service and advice to a number of ENR’s nationally ranked contractors.

Before joining Alliant, Jim led the Regional Construction Practice at a major retail brokerage after starting
his career as a surety underwriting manager for a top 5 Surety company. Currently, Jim sits on the board
of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) and is a past member of the PICPA
Construction Industry Committee.

Jim is frequently sought after by industry publications for his insights on surety and insurance trends,
having been featured in numerous local and national outlets, including Breaking Ground, Construction Executive, and ENR magazines. He has also shared his expertise as a speaker at national
conferences for CFMA, AGC, the American Bar Association, and the Construction Super Conference.
Additionally, he has contributed to the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) by providing
guidance on construction financial reporting recommendations.

Jim holds a bachelor's in business administration from Geneva College and carries several professional
designations, including Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter
(CPCU), and Associates in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB).

Jim has also served as a chair of the Elder Board, Trustee Board, and Mission Board at Northgate Church
in Pittsburgh. He has spent decades teaching Sunday school. Currently, he is active on the Trustee Board,
which in 2018 led a capital campaign to renovate the church. Jim is also an active member of Pinnacle
Forum, a national men's ministry for business leaders. His hobbies include hunting, golf, skiing, and water
skiing.
